Morris K. Udall Scholarships

The Morris K. Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide range of environmental fields.  Scholarships are offered to sophomore and junior college students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment, or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy or Native health care.  Sixty scholarships of up to $7,000 and fifty honorable mentions are awarded annually.  In addition to the monetary award, scholars attend a four-day Scholar Orientation in Tucson, AZ. 

Requirements

  • U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Sophomores or juniors
  • Pursuing full-time study during the academic year

Application Process

Interested juniors and sophomores must apply for University endorsement. The Internal Endorsement Committee will review applications and will endorse up to four students. Endorsed students will then work closely with the Office of Fellowships & Awards on their final applications.

To be considered for institutional nomination, submit this Google form by February 1, 2024 at 12 PM (NOON – NOT MIDNIGHT) ET.

  • Udall application form
  • 800-word essay on how the values of civility, integrity, and consensus resonate with you today and how you exemplify at least one of these values in your personal and professional life. [This prompt is included in the above sample application form.]
  • Transcripts (may be unofficial) for all college coursework
  • Resume
  • Three letters of recommendation that speak to your leadership, public service and academic achievements. These letters should be emailed by your recommenders to fellowships@georgetown.edu by the internal deadline, January 24th, 2022.
