Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon Fellowship

The Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon seeks scholars interested in researching the life, leadership, and legacy of George Washington, especially in relation to his place in American civic life and culture. Short-term (up to three months) and long-term (up to six months) awards are available. Short-term fellowships are $10,000 while long-term fellowships are $20,000. The award includes housing at the DeVos house and one round-trip travel cost to the scholar’s residence .

Eligibility

• This opportunity is available to doctoral candidates, postdoctoral scholars at the dissertation stage, PhDs, and advanced scholars in relevant fields.
• Candidates must either be U.S. citizens or have access to enter the country for the purpose of performing research.
• Willingness and availability ot live on-site for the duration of the program.

• Curriculum vitae
• 1,000-word fellowship proposal highlighting how you intend to use the collection and research assets of The Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington
• Two letters of recommendation to be sent confidentially to Mount Vernon by the references
